8 May 2007 Added a *NEW* consolidated photo gallery using SimpleView. I had to make several customizations since I wanted to minimize the duplication of photos, utilize my watermark engine and eventually integrate it with my Drupal sub-site.
3 May 2007 Analysis of current web traffic shows a significant interest in several of the PHP scripts utilized at this site. To better serve those folks interested in duplicating some of this functionality on their own sites, I've installed and configured a Drupal sub-site to encourage thoughtful discussion of these programs. I have also included work with respect to my creative writing efforts, and opened them up to considered opinion and debate. The Drupal sub-site, for now, will follow a non-automated verification route, as I do not want the Drupal sub-site to simply become an infestation of SPAM'ers and other non-productive contributors. I highly encourage anyone having some difficulty utilizing these scripts to post comments on the sub-site. The following PHP scripts and articles are currently available for general viewing and comment: A discussion of randomimage.php4 script A discussion of thumnail.php4 script A discussion of watermark.php4 script
19 April 2007 The PHP scripted, non-destructive, watermarking engine can now be viewed for your own use. This system utilizes the PHP script and code in the .htaccess file to create the watermark on the fly, leaving the original image untouched.
31 January 2007 I closely followed the events between the Lebanese and Israeli's this past summer and was motivated to write an article that focuses on Lebanon, Israel and the UN. A special thanks to Dahr Jamail for permission to include his photos to better illustrate my text.
26 January 2007 Made some significant updates across all pages. Highlights include the Online Journal entries now being written upon a background image of papyrus. The Thumbnail and Randomimage engines for displaying all images were re-worked for speed and to dynamically add a watermark.
1 December 2006 Visitors that enjoy this site can now make a donation by clicking on the PayPay link at the bottom of the main page. If you make a donation, thank you.
16 November 2006 These past few days I've been working on getting my business website up and running. It's still quite a bit rough at this point, but you have to start somewhere. RHD Consulting was started earlier this year and I focus on working with new business owners to have a web presence, employee internet management projects (Websense, SurfControl and Blue Coat for now), and network infrastructure projects (Cisco Systems).
6 December 2003 Last evening was Evolve's and Metro Netcomm's Holiday Bash down at Moxie's Restaurant in downtown Sacramento. We had a great time, and thanks to Brooke and Tim for providing this silly little bastard a safe ride home, Thanks!!! So I've added some additional information within the "News from Home" page: Evolve Technology Group and Metropolitan Netcomm's Holiday Bash!!!
15 November 2003 The first day in November a few of us took Ben, my 82 year old next door neighbor out to El Dorado County for a day of wine tasting. So I've added some additional information within the "News from Home" page: Ben, Cathy, Julie, Linda, Gary, Bob and Ryan having a great time wine tasting in El Dorado County.
18 October 2003 The last week in September, Kuba and Radislaw arrived from Chicago to spend their last week here in sunny, warm, beautiful California. So I added some additional information within the "News from Home" page: My Polish friends and I having fun in Big Sur, California.
19 September 2003 I realized today that Webmasters.com has been doing some updating of their servers. More specifically, they have recently updated the GD libraries on their webservers, or at least the webserver my site is hosted. Now we have clearer auto thumbnails! Nearly all photos are processed via a script that automatically create thumbnails. These thumbnails can typically be clicked to view the normal sized image. In other cases, the thumbnail is actually a randomly selected image that is being used as a link. So a big thanks to Webmasters.com and enjoy the new clarity!
1 September 2003 I am slowly adding some additional writing from my extended return to Broumov, Czech Republic. It has been slow going, but for now people will have to be content with only a few items. Added the three newsletters I wrote while in Broumov, Czech Republic: 2 October 2002 Newsletter vol. 1 14 October 2002 Newsletter vol. 2 29 October 2002 Newsletter vol. 3 Added some creative writing:

23 August 2003 August has, historically, been a slow month for people interested in accessing my site. Likely, because the types of people that find their way here are now traveling, volunteering or otherwise pre-occupied with other things than computers and the World Wide Web during this month of August. During this time I have been focusing diligently on updating my site to include photos and additional information that is, in some instances, over a year old. Additionally I have been meaning to change the appearance of the Photo Gallery, Volunteering and News From Home pages to include thumbnails for faster downloading and allow the surfer more flexibility to view the particular photo they desire. On the back end of things, I have changed service providers. The change has allowed me to provide more content (primarily in the way of photos), increase overall bandwidth quota and less frustration on my part. I have been on the web since March 2001, and since then there has been many changes, updates and modifications. I do not intend to document all historical changes. But beginning here in August 2003, I hope to hit a substantial portion of them and then continue to provide a changes/update log, located right here, moving forward. Substantial changes made to News From Home layout. Substantial changes made to Volunteering layout. Added Muzzano, Switzerland photos. Added Broumov, Czech Republic photos. Substantial changes made to Photo Gallery layout. Added Basel, Switzerland photos. Added Berlin, Germany photos. Added Dresden, Germany photos. Added Praha, Czech Republic photos. Added Wein, Austria photos.
